a midweek hat trick for jozy and he doesn't' make the bench. why did he ever go on loan to that team? FREE JOZY!

Unfortuantely, I think both Villareal and Monaco screwed the pooch in their choices of clubs to which they would loan their American stars. I mean, they might as well have sent them to the beach.

I also can't help but laugh at the 2 minutes had by Pearce and the 1 had by Eddie Johnson. When it comes to temperature and minutes played, those numbers are unbelievable.

Other than a few (usual) absences, good showing PT-wise for the Yanks

Robles must be injured?

Demon, I'm sure you meant Villarreal and Benfica...

I read "Heath Pearce 2" and thought he had a brace :)

Another bad loss for Rennes :(

Yeah. My bad. (Though, seriously, their treatment of Adu hasn't been that different. From Benfica, at least the players seemed to like him).

Steve G.:You keep missing the Sal Zizzo(didn't read my last comment?(:-) He played all 90 again,as he does just about every week but in Hannover 96 II in the Regionalliga Nord, check it out.He is often listed as top player.
Reignking:Robles has been injured; earlier on he was outstanding, better than Guzan IMHO
and Kaiserslautern was in 1st place; after the injury, they started to lose..

Spector got a concussion? He should play for DCU.

I still find it hard to believe that we have VW as a shirt sponsor. HUGE leaps and bounds above the other teams, other than Seattle.

@ People complaining about 1 min. playing time: There are often bonuses for appearing in the line up. It could be that the coach is rewarding Eddie Johnson and Heath Pierce by puting them in if just for a min.

Carmines: excellent point. Considering the league has several pyramid schemes and a few marginal but well known ones (Glidden, Bestbuy) I think dcu pulled a great coup with VW, getting a globally known, non-us multi-national is good stuff. I'd put Red Bull up there with x-box, as well (although that's a direct ownership, not a sponsor) since they're developing a nice reputation as sports marketerals. But hey, Xando's money is just as green as VW's.

The other thing about one minute players, it gets you into the books. It's often a manager's way of saying 'look, you're doing fine, you're a valued member of the squad, be ready cause we're going to use you' players with no future with the club, or who are out of favor or not working well, don't get those stints.

Pimpdaddy: Jozy didn't make it back to Xerez in time to be included. Not that he neccesarily would have been (but then a manager who doesn't at least dress an international who recorded a hattrick midweek had better hope he wins) Nashville to Xerez is at least two transfers (probably JFK and Madrid) and it was semana santa, that's a lot of chances to miss a connection.

Germinal Beerschot = my new favorite team name.

Friedel certainly was not at fault on the winning goal on Sunday. Macheda's shot was ridiculous. That's one of the best goals you will see.

Two questions:

1. Is Freddy Adu really that bad? I thought he looked great in the U-20 World Cup, particularly in the match against Brazil. I know Pato is a great talent, but I thought Freddy outplayed him that day. I know Adu is somewhat polarizing in this area of the world, but can he really not bring anything to the table for the US?

2. Did anyone see the Wolfsburg - Bayern match? Particularly the 5th goal for Wolfsburg? Very nice individual effort.

Obviously he doesn't suck. He just doesn't fit into Monaco's manager's plans right now. At Benfica, he scored 5 goals in just 450 minutes of action last year. His last appearance with the USA? He scored. He also was the best player on the field against Holland in the Olympics.

He'll be fine. Monaco's just not a good fit, obviously.

Yeah, he's got some explaining to do.

How come it's "Babe of the week" one week when it was "Bunny of the week" the previous week?

Hey post a link to your blog, but do us a favor and write something new... Your links are a tiny bit deceptive as you've got no news about Montero on there...? Or maybe you're talking about the other Freddy?

I also read that Goodson was MOTM in Starts raod victory over the weekend. He's had a goal & an assist in the first three matches in the top division. His club sits third in the table after being promoted last season....I look for a Summer move for him.
