Villarreal for All-Stars?

The Insider has learned that financially troubled Valencia dropped out of the running to play in the MLS All-Star Game in Salt Lake City this summer and that Spanish La Liga rival Villarreal is now in negotiations with the league. However, there is apparently a dispute about who actually represents Villarreal's legal interests in playing in the All-Star Game. Awaiting further details.....

Although I love Villarreal because they employ Americans, and it gives me a reason to watch them...that's probably not going to be a big draw.

The plot thickens. I enjoy All-Star games and the events around them, but at what point do they drop it or reformat it?

Hellz yeah! Jozy, Rossi, Franco, Capdevila, Senna, Nihat, Llorente!

I'd hope Jozy.

I don't know, it should be decent. Not Chelsea numbers, but still.

Valencia. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Villareal. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

all star games are a joke these days, for every sport. they should call them fan-vote games. I hope no dcu players play in it, if someone makes the "all star" team, give them a gift card to Home Depot and be done with it. Fans shouldn't vote for all stars. let the writers/former players/etc. do it. Better yet, let's not do it all.

MLS Best 11 is good enough for me.

""Bob Bradley may have found his man for the job in DaMarcus Beasley, who was impressive against Trinidad & Tobago at the position""

From Ives G.!! Then his justification for congratulating and then starting Beas is because he "contained" Carlos Edwards despite Edwards "getting passed him a few times."

Sure, because Edwards is just a step away from being Messi . . . Ha ha, nice analysis, Ives. Attention, we're trying to win a World Cup, not just make the Cup.

""That is a pretty solid first foray into the left back position by Beasley against an English Premier League winger"

Uh, he's been from Wrexham to Luton Town then on loan from Sunderland to Wolverhampton since October 2008 then returned to Sunderland . . .

Not quite the pedigree of an established EPL winger . .

They should play the all-star game for charity.

As a season ticket holder for RSL (who will be at the All-Star Game) I am glad that Valencia backed out and Villarreal looks to be the team. Valencia looks to be broken apart once the season ended, so the team they would have brought would have been a joke. On the other hand, I think Pellegrini is one of the best coaches anywhere and his team plays interesting, skillful soccer. They would be fun to watch!

MLS All-Stars need a bounty for crippling the punkass traitor Rossi.

Well -- we would prefer to see a more renowned opponent, this does offer some exposure for the MLS. The English teams are probably done with that. It gives teams a look at MLS best, and maybe spreads the word about MLS. So, the idea is good.

Maybe, it will give Rossi an idea about MLS, if he ever feels like coming home. Maybe Jozy will get a look with the first team...

Someday, the ideal format would probably be American payers against MLS internationals, but the time has not come for that.

How could someone not relish the opportunity to hurl something at Rossi's head?
