RFK, Courts, Signing, TV
*The USSF announced today that tickets to the USA-Costa Rica World Cup qualifier Oct. 14 at RFK Stadium will go on sale next week. Prices begin at $35. The general public can make purchases starting Sept. 10 through Ticketmaster and the USSF Web site. Visa credit card holders can buy tickets through a special presale Sept. 9 on the USSF site. In addition, D.C. United ticket plan holders will have priority access tomorrow and Friday by contacting the club directly.

*Davide Somma, a U.S. green card holder with Italian and South African citizenship, has signed a one-year contract to play for Leeds United. Somma, 24, had a three-week trial in which he scored three goals in two games against Hull City reserves and Newcastle United reserves. Somma, who was waived by the San Jose Earthquakes in May, is likely to be loaned to a lower division.
*For soccer culture buffs, be sure to watch "The Golden Age", a documentary about former players whose passion for the game remains alive, on WETA (Channel 26) in Washington on Monday night at 10 p.m.
*Join me later for highlights from the DCU news conference announcing the signing of youth academy goalkeeper Bill Hamid.....

Cap SOMMA!

That Somma story is a real snoozer. I'll be here all week.

Leeds United Coach:
"I want Somma that."

ReignKing: I'd much rather we have a protracted argument about why Bradley is not capping Somma -disregarding his lack of US citizenship and despite the comment that he "is likely to be loaned to a lower division (than League One)" after being waived by a bottom-dwelling MLS team.

So, here's something a little surprising. On hotels.com, in the search for Washington, DC area hotels, RFK is not listed as a landmark.

JfAtl-ish: You DO NOT want to stay in a hotel near RFK.

I wasn't planning on it, I just was curious, since the other stadia in the area were listed.

Ok. Obviously hotels.com hates soccer.

Does anyone know if tickets for USA-Costa Rica will be available in advance direct from the RFK box office? Thanks.
