Roberto Carlos slide tackles and takes out three guys . . . this might be old, but it's new to me .

Eddie Johnson almost scored except the keeper made a fantastic save

Adu not playing yet because Cuper feels that Freddy is still a step behind his teammates since he hasn't played in quite some time.

Not very many 90 minute performers in that lot...

62 days until United's first match!

Algeria just became less appetizing.

Cuz they beat Ivory Coast?

Posted by: DadRyan | January 24, 2010 7:57 PM | Report abuse

Yeah. I was hoping they were just a one hit wonder (beating Egypt). Do you seriously want to have our must win game be against the team that beat the Ivory Coast?

Not only is he American, he's been capped.

Yeah, I have to admit that Algeria is now looking like a more imposing opponent. I'm just hoping that Algeria's good results means that the US won't take them lightly. They're a solid team, but they should be beatable if we don't underestimate them.

Based on the highlights on FSC, Ivory Coast is being over-rated....did they ever hear of "marking"? Based on that performance, they'll lose 4-3, 5-2 to Portugal & Brazil.

I'll still take my chances with Algeria...just don't under-estimate any nation come the World Cup.

Not to suggest by any means that we take Algeria lightly, but the last time we met an African Champion (which Algeria is not) I think we did well. But to present all sides of the argument, well so did Algeria.

For those highlight reel Oracles out there, I remember a few weeks ago when Algeria came out of the gates slowly you were the same ones writing them off. Now today, you see some more FSC highlights and Algeria is all of a sudden the team to beat (especially when you drop said highlights against the US' last outing). I guess based on the powerful, deep analytic and scientific sound evidence that is presented in the FSC highlight reel we would do ourselves a great justice by just staying home and forfeiting the whole WC altogether. "Oh ye great and all seeing eyes of the Internets, have mercy on us mere humans and tell us our fortunes for this day."

Anyone can lose, anyone can win. That's why we watch, no?
Algeria beat Egypt? Algeria beat Ivory Coast? So what, we beat Spain. You'd hope every club (except England) comes to South Africa to play as best they can.;)
