Ok, since i'm bored and no one is commenting here anyway, someone tell me why DC United can't go buy this land:

http://www.showcase.com/approot.aspx?p=0A120793E8C8E0DD18D2CEDA062FD143

and then worry about building just the stadium on it, they could even do a little commercial or hotel or offices attached and share parking with the Skins provided they don't schedule a game on the 10 days a year something is happening at FedEx? I mean you maybe need 10 Acres or so, max for a stsdium? How much could the property really be? 2-3 million, tops. Then all you need to do is constuct the stadium. Heck, wouldnt the state pitch in if they were going to before? Metro access isn't that bad, just run shuttle buses. Plenty of tail gaiting, and highway access. Or is DC just looking for someone to pick up the whole tab? Heck if Philly can get $20 million for 10 years worth of naming rights, why wouldn't MLS loan them the money? What's a cheap stadium cost, $100 million?

Plus i saw a 16.5 acre sight near AAFB within walking distance of the metro stop over there that was for sale last fall. If DC can't afford to build the stadium, wouldn't buying some land at least make them look serious about staying. Then they can try to get shared funding for a stadium. Or at least give them leverage with other municipalites. And they can always sell the land later if they don't use it...probably at a profit once the economy rebounds.

Ok, so i'm just avoiding work, but 5 minutes on a real estate site gave me that. Makes me feel more and more like DC isnt serious about staying.

@Brian76 Because its in PG County and they hate us there. I have a high feeling that its going to be near Dulles.

Well, there's the stadium sorted. How much will beer be?

Wow, didn't realize those stations were already in place. Looks like a lot of vacant land once you get past the herndon station. Buy some land up! the locations are set, what's the hold up? Might suck for the Maryland fans or even the actual District fans, but it'd make it more convinient for me coming from dc! Plus should be enough land to develop if they need that to make money!

St. Louis the big winners, adding 2 All-Stars. Bock is a very good pick-up for Freedom. No one picked up Johanna Frisk? I'm shocked, shocked.

So we got Brock and the rights to a Nigerian international who wouldn't go to LA...

Obviously, the Freedom believe that they already have a great nucleus or Mr Discovery they were restrained by salary issues or a little or a lot of both...
