Concerned about that shakey back field.

Volleyball anyone?

holden was down a lot longer than one minute. bornstein commits two idiotic moves; thankfully only one was called.
findley and bornstein have to come off.
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 3:35 PM | Report abuse
good to see that nothing changes. bornstein is still bornstein and the second forward (findlay) is still useless.
glad demerit's back. wish beasley wasn't.
Posted by: PindarPushkin | March 3, 2010 3:39 PM | Report abuse
Hopefully this puts an end to the Bornstein experiment, at least. Too bad Holden went down, he looked like the best player for the US in the first thirty minutes. Donovan needs to show up for the second. Findley is way out of his element. The passing needs to be more accurate overall.
All that said, not a terrible overall effort against a top team on the road.

I thought Beasley looked decent, actually.

Lalas: "If I had headbutted someone every time they said something bad about me or my family I'd have never finished a game." lol
Posted by: StewartDC8 | March 3, 2010 3:52 PM | Report abuse
I agree with boo, much to my surprise. DMB has been OK, with some nice touches and no obvious mistakes. of course, I am just counting the moments until he does commit one, but so far...
did torres get the yellow for arguing? glad to see edu, but I'd like to see torres stay on.
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 3:52 PM | Report abuse
beasley wasnt bad, he was ok. but what's the point, this is the best we can expect from him. if we're taking an older versatility/utility player than isnt Hejduk a better choice?
torres wasnt great but he wasnt bad. dont get why bradley thinks bornstein can do no wrong and torres can do no right. id like to see torres given a chance at something other than defensive defensive midfielder.

Where is the Everton Landy Cakes? This looks like the old Disappearing LD at major games.
Posted by: ronwright | March 3, 2010 3:59 PM | Report abuse
van de vaart...that's the guy who ripped the heart out of dcu last summer, right?
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 4:08 PM | Report abuse
Harkes keeps complementing Bradley for passes that lose possession.
Posted by: Dancy1 | March 3, 2010 4:08 PM | Report abuse
bedoya and davies were together at BC? how did they not win some titles?
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 4:09 PM | Report abuse
Bad, bad officiating this game. Not saying it's necessarily biased, but it is bad.
Posted by: BooThisMan | March 3, 2010 4:10 PM | Report abuse
bornstein might want to take that vacation to honduras now. they'll be nicer to him than any US audience.
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 4:22 PM | Report abuse
that's our EJ. a clumsy move and a backpass.
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 4:24 PM | Report abuse
down two, five minutes to play...yeah, we need a new central defender!
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 4:33 PM | Report abuse
ok, so a central defender scored the goal, but not the one they subbed in! how on earth did two guys get behind the dutch? no one has gotten behind them -- onside, at least -- all game.
Posted by: troy6 | March 3, 2010 4:36 PM | Report abuse
After the second half, I'm going to upgrade my assessment of Beasley to "very impressive". Probably our best player today.
Posted by: BooThisMan | March 3, 2010 4:38 PM | Report abuse
welcome back DMB. i don't care how short we are on strikers, NO MORE FINDLEY! and bornstein, pal, you did yourself and the team no favors today. good for torres too.

oh. ha, ha, I wondered where you all were.

Bornstein looked like a candidate for those SW Airlines, "Wanna get away for awhile?" commercials. AWFUL. He has made Pearce look all-world.
Posted by: mbyrd28 | March 3, 2010 4:50 PM | Report abuse
duh.
post match thread coming soon?
Posted by: DadRyan | March 3, 2010 4:51 PM | Report abuse
Sad that Bornstein missed his hattrick (that handball inside the box really could have helped his stats).
After that display from Findley and Johnson, I'm rooting for taking both Beasley and Bedoya and having Donovan and Dempsey slot into the forward role when needed.
Yes, I believe that Bedoya should go to South Africa, if Beasley's going to go, he needs a healthy young body to lean on.
It's official, we now have three settings in the midfield: Clark, reactive, defensive, stingy; Edu, stout, positive, reliable; Torres, creative, classy, possession. The last isn't too bad defensively.
Posted by: UnitedDemon | March 3, 2010 4:54 PM | Report abuse
Bornstein should have never seen the second half...same for Findley. Beasley's effort was a pleasant surprise.
