Toronto-Colorado trade in works

First seen on the Insider's Twitter feed this morning and now close to being finalized: Toronto FC is planning to send right back Marvell Wynne to the Colorado Rapids for midfielder Nick LaBrocca and a third-round draft pick. Wynne, a terrific athlete who is in the U.S. national team player pool, started 45 league matches the previous two seasons and had a career-high five assists in 2009. LaBrocca started all but four matches the past two years and scored two goals in each of those seasons.

I'd say that's a Wynne-Wynne situation.

(If you didn't see that coming, shame on you...)

What happened to Jon Busch? Is he just gone?

Just what Colorado needed. More mindless activity without any finesse.

If Wynne is still in the US player pool, he has no more than a toe in the water...

Wynne will be so much faster in the thin air of Denver;)

Somehow I'm reminded of the John Wooden saying, "Activity without achievement". That sums up Wynne perfectly.

A guy with your moniker quoting John Wooden. Something seems wrong here...

Brilliant.

Nothing against the former man-child known as Marvell Wynne but I wouldn't even place him in the top five of MLS right backs.

But hey, that's just me...

@McCracken -- I'm thinking more like Ray Hudson. Something about activity without penetration is (can't quote in this thread, but most of you will get it).

Everyone's right about Wynne, but what puzzles me more is that Colorado already has a Wynne-lite type of player in Kimura. LaBrocca may not have been a sure starter for the Rapids, but he would have been a regular sub. Meanwhile, Wynne is only a little better than Kimura.

Meanwhile, Toronto loses their only true right back. Wynne's replacement will probably be Attakora, who is the best center back TFC has.

This deal doesn't make sense for either team.
