Why does Japan wear blue?

Japan looks for real to me, they're my dark horse. They are undersized but have speed and infinite guts. They play a clean game. All makes them easy to root for, like Australia in '06. Hopefully they won't go out the same way, but in THIS World Cup, I harbor no illusions!

Wow, awesome turn by Barrios for the best chance of the game. Shot was poor, though.

Paraguay is definitely trying to use its height today. Santa Cruz with another great chance as the ball drops to him.

Italy started wearing blue or azzuri in honor of their royal family. Japan is murkier. Best answer I have heard is that the samurai blue is representative of the ocean and sea that surrounds Japan.

Lordy, why do keepers guess so often? Of the last 5 PK shots, 3-4 were easily saveable---within 3-4 feet of the center of the goal.
Where was the keeper? Sprawled out on the grass either to the left or right.
Plus, it seems that more and more pk takers are just waiting for the keeper to dive, then they slide home gifts.

First half, contested header, in plain view. forearm thrown to the head, straight red... no call.
I think it's time for a new Federation. This is sickening.

Not to mention unlucky bounces for hand balls becoming yellows.

Alexi Lalas picked Paraguay in PKs. If you have that in your fantasy pick, I would change it now.
