I was hoping I'd see "Perkins 90 in VĂ¥lerenga's 2-0 loss at Haugesund" and realize that this season has all been a bad dream.

Oh well.

Jozy does well in his job interview.

Jozy also scored in the PKs. Villarreal gets to keep their Ceramic Trophy.

A bit of a sitter but any full volley is a good goal.

Was that Brankovic marking Jozy?

Checkin in from the big apple, anybody else excited for Chicago/Red Bulls tonight?

Posted by: JacobfromAtlanta-ish | August 8, 2010 8:40 PM | Report abuse

A lot more excited to see tonight's game compared with any game involving DC United. Sad.

Posted by: Hoost | August 8, 2010 8:47 PM | Report abuse

Yay!! Americans abroad are back, now I can take my mind off DC's ability to not score

I think we're going to see a lot more production out of Jozy. He seems to have adjusted mentally to the speed of play, and he's found out what works and doesn't work. Besiktas would give him a chance to play for a team that will dominate in the league, and give him a chance to score.

I'm watching the Sh!tcago/Pink Cows game. I have seen this many DP's since I worked at the video store in high school...;)

What's the deal with Gringo Torres not in the 18. Is he still hurt or falling out of favor?

Posted by: DadRyan | August 8, 2010 9:25 PM | Report abuse

Gringo Torres picked up a little knock in Pachuca's season opener. Definitely not out of favor. He'll be back in the first XI soon. Hopefully Vidal and Gomez can get more minutes soon, too. Vidal's looked pretty good in limited action thus far.

Must be nice to have Dane Richards coming off the bench. Any question he'd be United's #1 attacking threat? (maybe 1a with Najar)

Chicago setting off fireworks when The World's Greatest Unibrow... Subs in. Um. Ok.

Is that Twellman doing commentary with Dellacamera? Whoever it is just said McBride would surely be the target on a Chicago Free Kick. Uh, only if they kick the ball at the bench since McHead subbed out for Castillo 10 minutes ago.

Let's play a game called "Who Does Chris Albright Look Like". I vote Sir Ulrich Von Lichtenstein.

Unbelievable effort by Sean Johnson in goal for Chicago. A star is born. Looks like some of those geniuses who downgraded him after the MLS Combine have eggs on their faces.

Posted by: fischy | August 8, 2010 11:10 PM | Report abuse

Agree, Fischy, that was an outstanding performance by the Fire's keeper. I believe I've seen Chicago play three or four times this season now, and I think there's still a disconnect between the new manager and last year's players.

The result of over-egging on their part?

Fabulous atmosphere in Chicago tonight. Usual sellout in Seattle. Nice to see two MLS games back to back with this kind of electricity.

Also: JFA, be careful there in Gotham among the Yankees (not just the baseball types!). Daddy R: it looks like I'm headed to HI in January.

19 people in Dallas, but hey, there was preseason pointy-ball on TV.

Posted by: benonthehill | August 8, 2010 11:51 PM | Report abuse

Jacob don't tell me you went to an ESC viewing party...

dcarmy, you going for vacation or being stationed there?
My mom still lives on Oahu, and I wish I could get out there more. The wife and daughter love the place. Go figure. :)

Nahhh dude. Just chilled and watched it in the hotel room.
