Video: Turkey's victory over Romania

Normally, we wouldn't pay much attention to a Turkey-Romania friendly, but this video clip is worthy of viewing for two reasons:

1. A penalty kick was awarded to Turkey after a Turkish player kicked a Romanian defender in the 82nd minute.

2. Turkey's Arda Turan scored on a blistering shot from distance to secure victory in Guus Hiddink's debut and end the Turks' 11-game winless streak against Romania.

The Turkish player who dove was only doing what he had to in order to win the game. He is a hero. Turkish dude, Suarez, Maradona - all heroes.

Another one. Created two just to see what's more fun, or easier to toy with at work...

Was this really Hiddink's debut? I thought he coached Turkey at the USA's send-off match up in Philly.

Bolivian papers reporting that Jaime is done (thanks to Chico for the link):

Bob Turk said the weather would be perfect for this game.

I read the Bolivian article as saying that Jaime will leave at the end of the year, i.e., he will play out the season. But will Coach Benny put him on the pitch. These days he is mostly used to preserve a lead, and we don't have leads anymore.

Guus was at the helm at the Philadelphia Turkey Cheesesteak Experience. Good catch.

Hiddink was on the sidelines but his contract hadn't started yet when the US and Turkey played.
