Maryland, Virginia, Georgetown, Virginia Tech invited to NCAA women's soccer tournament
Maryland, enjoying its finest season in history, received one of the four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA women's soccer tournament and will host a four-team event this weekend.
On Friday at Ludwig Field, the ACC runner-up Terrapins (17-2-2) will play Big South champion High Point (11-10-1) at 5 p.m. and Georgetown (13-6-1) will face MAAC winner Siena (17-3-0) at 8. The survivors will meet Sunday at 1 p.m. in College Park.
Virginia (13-4-2) is the No. 2 seed in Maryland's region and will host Patriot League champion Lehigh (11-4-4) in the first round Friday in Charlottesville. Also in that region, Virginia Tech (10-9-1) will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on Dayton (18-3-0), with the winner likely to face third-seeded and host Ohio State (14-4-1).
James Madison, which upset Hofstra in the CAA final, will play Texas in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The other No. 1 seeds in the 64-team tournament are defending champion North Carolina, Stanford and Portland.

Fine buildup, looks to shoot right footed from the top of the box, no angle, switches back left, takes a (not so strong) shot, bounces off a defender's foot, and rolls across the line past an off balance goalie.
