Backchannel Chatter: More on the ‘White Talib’
From our friends at Long War Journal comes more authoritative commentary on the so-called ‘white teen’ spotted in the Taliban video, which surfaced over the weekend and stirred up considerable commentary in intelligence circles.
Long War managing editor Bill Roggio, who has spent considerable time on the ground Afghanistan and other regional combat zones, solicited opinions on the video from experts on and in the region. And he came up with some interesting responses.
One, from a source who has “spent time in the eastern Afghanistan region and studied it closely,” suggested that the teen could be a descendent of the troops who conquered the region with Alexander the Great, 2,300 years ago.
There's more.
