Expect Portis Debut
First, let me say that Maryland linebacker Dave Philistin and center Edwin Williams have been added to the watch list for the Lombardi Award, honoring college football’s top lineman. As you know, Philistin is the ACC’s leading tackler. Edwin Williams is entering his third season as the team’s starting center, and he happens to be one of the best quotes on the team, for what that’s worth.
Ralph didn’t think the team practiced that well today. He said Portis will certainly play, but Ralph has yet to talk to James Franklin about when in Saturday’s game.
A lot of media at Maryland today, but interviews were understandably cut short because the team had a 5 p.m. meeting. That meant a quick dinner at a local eatery, where I watched Mark Clem, the man, the myth, the legend, complain that the spicy sauce was a bit too spicy for his tongue.
Just an interview with Ralph tomorrow, and I’ll be writing all day, finishing two stories that should both be on the Net Friday afternoon. I will also post interviews I have had with Edwin Williams, Dane Randolph and Jordan Steffy.

Which local eatery?
I feel like this is something Dan Steinberg would have covered in more depth.
