Eastern Michigan Blasted
I'll have a ton of reaction from players and coaches posted throughout the night or early morning. (I have to watch this super-huge game tonight, you know, the one in Fresno.) Looking ahead a week, Maryland's next opponent, Eastern Michigan, got blasted by Toledo, 41-17. Here is the AP brief:
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP)—DaJuane Collins rushed for a career-high 168 yards and two touchdowns to lead Toledo past Eastern Michigan 41-17 on Saturday.
Playing in heavy rain for most of the first three quarters, the teams combined for eight turnovers.
The Rockets (1-1, 1-0 Mid-American) took advantage, scoring 21 points off five turnovers by Eastern Michigan (1-2, 0-1). Collins scored on runs of 19 and 4 yards in the first quarter.
Aaron Opelt helped Toledo open up a 34-7 lead with three touchdown passes in the first seven minutes of the third quarter, including back-to-back scoring strikes to Stephen Williams. Opelt completed 8-of-18 passes for 114 yards, while Williams finished with a team-high three receptions for 48 yards.
Dwayne Priest led the Eagles with 80 yards rushing on 13 carries, while Terrence Blevins carried the ball 15 times for 21 yards and scored both of Eastern Michigan’s touchdowns. Kyle McMahon was 11-for-18 for 125 yards and an interception.
