Fridge: We did not Show Everything
Here are more quotes from Ralph Friedgen, about everything except the quarterback situation:
(About kicker Obi Egekeze)
“He kicked the ball very well Monday. I think he is more determined than ever. All three of those kicks that he missed were over 40 yards. Two hit the crossbar. I am hanging with him. Monday, he hit one from 30 in the two-minute drill. He was exceptionally good Monday night. Let’s not jump ship just yet.”
(Are you going to try to get more passing plays for Josh Portis)
“I think we will break that tendency of running the ball with him all the time. He practiced better Monday. I talked to him afterward. It was his first game. He made a few mistakes. It was a learning process. It wasn’t like that was unexpected. I think he will grow from that and get better and better.”
(On not showing too much game plan against Delaware)
“I thought we had a good game plan. It was an unusual week last week in that we had a lot of time to prepare. There was no class. We had done our game plan earlier and had spent a lot of time with players. This week won’t be quite the same. We are not showing everything. But we are going to do what we have to do to win the football game.”
(on MTSU defense)
“The kid Jenkins on their defensive line is very good. I was trying to hold Jaimie Thomas because I know we are going to have to be very good to block him. Against Louisville he was very disruptive and two years ago he was very good against us. They didn’t blitz too much in the past but they have been a high pressure team in the past.”
(Durability with Da’Rel Scott)
“He had an infection after the game. He and Davin Meggett took most of the reps in camp. I have been very pleased with his durability and the way he has practiced. He played a very good game in the running game, but there are other areas of the game where he needs to get better.”
(When did Jordan Steffy get hurt)
“I asked Jordan the other day when he got hit. I did see him coming off one series holding his thumb. When he completed a pass to Davin Meggett, he did get hit on that play and he thought that was the play. I don’t know if you can say that was all of it, that was definitely part of it.”
(Do you want to get Darrius Heyward-Bey the ball more)
“Coach James Franklin has a whole lot of plays to get him the ball. We ran two reverses with him Saturday. We would like to get him the ball with some screens.”

Judging from Ralph's playcalling for the last 4 years, we are due to show everything we have in 2011.
