Goins Clears NCAA Waivers

NCAA Clearinghouse approved the transcripts of freshman Steve Goins, a 6-foot-10, 260-pound center out of Chicago, on Tuesday, according to a Maryland athletics department spokeman. Goins now is officially a member of the Maryland men's basketball team's 2008-09 roster and can fully participate in all team activities.

Goins averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks per game as a senior at Curie High School. More details to come.
