Green Nearing Full Speed

The suspense may soon be over. The drama may soon subside. The long awaited return of running back Morgan Green may soon be on the horizon, the immediate horizon. Ralph Friedgen and offensive coordinator James Franklin said Green could play Saturday at Middle Tennessee State.

Remember, Green was expected to compete with Da’Rel Scott for the role as featured running back. But Green suffered from a nagging quadriceps injury throughout training camp, missing much of practice. At one point, Friedgen said, doctors cleared Green to practice but Green still said he couldn’t go. That injury has seemed to heal, although Ralph’s not talking about injuries.

When asked about the chances of Green playing Saturday, Friedgen said: “There is a good chance. I have to look at the tape of practice. I still don’t think he is at full speed. I haven’t seen him cut it loose yet. I have to evaluate if the other guys aren’t ahead of him. There also might be something he could do in pass protection, so there might be a role for him on the team.”

Scott is still No. 1, obviously. Davin Meggett is hard to supplant at No. 2. Where should Morgan Green fit in and who is excited about seeing him?

I'm looking forward to seeing Green in action, but honestly, Meggett looked so good the first game (made something out of less than average blocking on many plays) that I am much more excited to see Meggett develop than to see what Green can bring to the table.

Three good running backs = best solution while we find a QB.

Let's hope he's learned how to freakin' block since his injury...

Last time I checked we burnt Meggets redshirt about 10 minutes into the Deleware game. 3rd string sounds about right for Green.

After what I saw Saturday......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. It would be nice if Green can get on the fielsd but Scott and Meggett hit the holes better than any backs Maryland has had since Lamont Jordan.
