How Low Can They Go?

It was not just poor execution. It was also miscommunication, disorganization and an overall lack of focus. It was as total of a meltdown as one could envision. And this loss ranks as worse than the Northern Illinois game. Remember, Northern Illinois won 10 games. MTSU is a middle-of-the pack Sun Belt team; no team in the country has fewer seniors; they have only 67 healthy and eligible scholarship players.

Well, if fans boo at Byrd Stadium on Saturday, there will be no doubt who they are booing this time.

My question: When will Maryland earn its first victory of the season against a team from a BCS conference?

When MD lost to Northern Illinois, nobody knew they would end up winning 10 games. Yeah, MTSU has a small roster without much experience, but if they end up winning eight or nine games, is this still so bad? Might it be a bit quick to already call this the worst loss of the Friedgen era? There have been a bunch of ACC games that MD should have won, but lost, and cost us important bowl consideration.

a all-time low for terps football. I put this one squarely on ralph. Why can't he recruit a quality quarterback? And why aren't the QB's that are on the roster improving? Steffy and Turner seem to have regressed. How can a school like MTSU get a adequate QB and the Terps can't? If the Terps had the MTSU quarterback on their roster, he's the starter and Maryland wins the game going away. And why does Scott only carry the ball 11 times? Maryland's O-line outweighed MTSU's D-line by 50 pounds each. Ralph should have kept pounding it down their throat. Why does Heyward-Bey only touch the ball twice? And the fourth down call? The whole planet knew that Portis was going to keep the ball. I don't see how this team can finish any better than 3-9. The terps are going to get crushed by Cal - look for a score like 50-0.

Our defense under Cosh has been a complete joke. His bend don't break philosophy is completely ineffective, especially against the spread O. MTSU made us look like a junior college team out there. Fridge was only good when he had the rights assistants, but cheap skate Yow ran them out of town. And look now what we are stuck with.

But after the first two games of the season, what makes you think the Terps could even get close to touching eight or nine wins?

Also, that the Northern Illinois loss came two years after a 10-win season and one year after an 11-year season. And Michael Turner was the RB. Losing to MTSU is the worst loss ever in Fridge's tenure. Plus that Terps team had a decent QB and a great defense, two things this team doesn't have.

11-year means 11-win. My fault.

Considering that Md. lost to a team that was soundly beaten by Troy a week earlier,Md. is sure lucky that they don't have a great team like Troy on their schedule. The way they played and were game coached, this Md. team will be amazing if they win 4 games this season.

Coach Ralph Friedgen, for Christsake ... please take over the offensive play calling.

The offense on display yesterday was simply offensive. Coach Franklin is a joke. My dog can bark out better plays ... and, he has never played real football. Getting the picture? Are you really?

Yow and her meddling ways has screwed the rising Univ of Maryland Football program. All the top assistants are gone, and we are seeing subpar coaches making subpar calls and putting a subpar team on the field.

Add to that our subpar recruiting. Why can't we get an elite QB to come here? Why are there so many out of shape seniors playing? Why are'nt the freshmen being given a chance?

So many questions, and so few answers.

Time for the Terps to regroup, and figure this out. Coach Cosh - please come up with better defensive schemes. Coach Franklin please make intelligent offense plays calling. And, the Terp team - please play with pride, and intensity. No excuses. You MUST win!

Ralphs time is over! He can not recruit or judge talent. The team has been in decline since VanDerLindens recruits left. There are no elite players except Heywood-Bey. Debbie Yows prorities are building a monument to herself and preparing for a NCAA appointment. A staduim expansion with this program is a joke!

Terpfan has a lot of it right, but Ralph was sending in the plays most of the game and has never severed himself from O. play control. That is one of many problems IMO

Is it really Fridge or is it Yow? He doesn't have the quality Assts and it shows. Franklin's game calling is more to the right; that it makes Bush look like a liberal. The play calling with Portis is so predictible that the poor guy has no chance. MTS was not holding back with their play calling. Forget about selling the skyboxes so I guess we'll see Yow cut the purse strings ago.
