Perez on Best: He is Electric

Free safety Terrell Skinner had played well in two games, but a high ankle sprain will keep him out at least two weeks. Taking his spot will be sophomore Antwine Perez, the transfer from Southern California. I got a chance to talk to Perez on Tuesday night and here is a little of what he said:

“I feel for a guy like Terrell. We are pretty good friends and he is an outstanding football player. It is going to be rough not having him on the field this weekend.”

How has it been transferring to Maryland?
“At first it was pretty rough. The first semester was tough, I wasn’t focused and Coach had a talk with my parents. I have always been a great student. Now I am doing extremely well. Now I am enjoying my time here and everything is pretty smooth.”

What are some keys against Cal, and what do you think of Jahvid Best?
“We have to stop their run, shut their run down and make them throw the ball. He is electric. We have to keep hitting him and make him not run the ball anymore.”

Having Perez starting couldbe a good thing. from all accounts he is a big hitter. If he starts to really bring it in games, it could spread throughout the D and get these guys fired up in spite of Cosh.
