Steffy in Uniform, Not Practicing (So Far)
Prisbell reports that Jordan Steffy is currently at practice and in uniform, but so far has not participated in quarterback drills. Prisbell says Steffy has his helmet under his arm and has a wrap around his right hand.
Again, the school is not allowing the quarterbacks to speak today, so we likely will have to wait to hear from Steffy himself. What we do know: Coach Ralph Friedgen has said he will select Saturday's starter based on performances in this week's practices, and so far, last week's starter has missed yesterday's practice and has not participated in the first part of today's.

I hate raining on anyone's parade - especially, Jordan Steffy's.
However, the fact remains he has been the most underacheiving QB in the history of University of Maryland. He seldom shows the talent he has in actual games. Practices are just that. Shining there means nothing! With his track record of being injured it would be best he voluntarily sat out.
He has a number of flaws - like not making good defensive reads, holding on to the ball to long, missing open receivers, making poor throws, and fumbling!
He single handedly was responsible for 3 turnovers in the last game! We were lucky to win against Univ. of Delaware a I-AA team. How pathetic is that?
Time for the coaches to reward players who shine with playing time - no favoritism.

I think that Delaware must take some credit for the dismal showing by the Terps on Saturday. Despite the fact that the Blue Hens play at a lower level than the Terps, last year they beat Navy and made it to the the FCS championship game. Their QB Joe Flacco will be starting for the Ravens this Sunday, so this team wasn't a typical Terp first-game cakewalk. Erase a couple of UD mental miscues, and they could have beaten the Terps. While the Terps were superior on the ground, they only equaled the Blue Hens in passing. I think the UD defense was the main reason the Terps quarterbacks looked mediocre. Also total lack of imagination in using Portis contributed to the Terps woes. Friedgen and Franklin really need to determine whether Portis can throw the ball, and then give him the go-ahead to do so. Stop all this repetitive nonsense running with the ball.
