Eric,
I think you'll really enjoy the ACC Women's Tournament in Greensboro.
They have a remote-operated Chik-Fil-A inflatable blimp that looks like a cow. Three or four times a game they will operate the cow in a complete circuit of the arena, dropping prizes to the fans.
The first and second days of the tournament they have a couple thousand school kids bussed in from various schools in the Triad area. They wear different color shirts for each section they sit in. And yes, they generate a lot of noise.
Also, it's not uncommon to run into players in between games or between sessions.
