Alcohol to Be Sold in Byrd Stadium Suites

Here's an interesting item that just moved across the AP wire. While the news will affect only the upper income brackets, I'm curious as to what everyone thinks.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — University of Maryland football fans will be able to enjoy a cold beer at games next year — if they are in a luxury suite. The 64 suites are part of a more than $50 million expansion of Byrd Stadium. Twenty-eight of the 64 suites have been leased so far at prices up to $85,000 a year. Senior associate athletic director Brian Ullmann said in a statement that beer and wine will be served in a “safe manner consistent with university policy.” Alcohol is a sensitive subject in college stadiums because many students are under the drinking age of 21. The university said suite sales will be carefully monitored, only beer and wine will be sold by trained and certified personnel, and drink maximums will be enforced.

I like a good, cold beer while watching a football game but not enough to lease a luxury suite for $85,000 or even $8,500.

I'll bring my own to my $270 seat, thank you.
