Halloween Football Reading List

With Maryland and Virginia Tech off tomorrow as both prepare for next Thursday's game in Blacksburg, it's a lighter menu than usual among our area football schools, but you can read Zach Berman's Virginia preview, which will appear in tomorrow's newspaper and has two of the funnier opening sentences I've read in a while.

In preparation for tomorrow night's Texas-Texas Tech game, Steve Yanda takes a look at the ridiculous amount of quarterback talent in the Big 12. The most amazing fact (to me) in the story: Four of the top six scoring offenses in the country are in the Big 12 South.

There was a good note in the Richmond Times-Dispatch that all the ACC's parity means the league likely will be able to fill its bowl obligations, which means you'll like see and ACC team take on Navy in the inaugural EagleBank Bowl Dec. 20 at RFK Stadium. Bundle up. And David Teel in the Daily Press assesses the final month of the ACC season.

And in case you missed on our Recruiting Insider yesterday, Quince Orchard defensive back Travis Hawkins will be playing in College Park in the fall.

Finally, because this has been Alumni Week with the Terps off tomorrow, here's a nice story on Josh Wilson in the Seattle Times.
