More Terps Player Quotes

Here are some Maryland player quotes:

Senior Offensive Lineman Edwin Williams
On being optimistic:
“They played very well. It was a very good game. You have to be optimistic about it. We’re 1-1 in the ACC, six games left, we have to keep pushing it. We have to keep working a lot harder this off week to get ready for Wake Forest. We have to focus.”

On Coach Ralph Friedgen:
“I definitely think that [Coach ] is reaching us. Some of the responsibility falls on the team. Offensively, that is one thing that I cannot control. We have to do a lot of things better if we expect to win an ACC championship or anything. Again, [Virginia] played a very good game, and we didn’t match them.”

On preparation:
“It wasn’t anything that [Virginia] was doing, it was us. There were a lot of things that we shouldn’t have been doing, a lot things that we were doing to beat ourselves. We didn’t push hard enough, make enough plays, and I definitely take full responsibility because I didn’t play anywhere near where I’m supposed to play.”

On underestimating Virginia:
“It’s very tough to underestimate a team like [Virginia]. It turned out to be a big game for us. We thought that since their record wasn’t very good that they weren’t going to play like they did a couple of years ago. UVa put forth their best effort, and we didn’t. We didn’t play college football.”

On scoring:
“We tried to stay positive, and that’s all that you can really do. We tried to move the ball. As far as points, that’s all that really matters at the end of the day, and we didn’t score any. The results aren’t about your mental strategy or trying. We have to work on that on our off week. The hard part about it is that we worked the hardest these last six weeks.

Junior Quarterback Chris Turner:
On Virginia:
“[Virginia] didn’t do anything special as far as schemes, but we didn’t run the ball as well as we would have liked to.”

On a comeback:
“During halftime, we weren’t down. We thought we’d have a chance to come back. We came up fighting.”

On their bye this week:
“It’s the best time to [have two weeks to prepare]. We have two big home games, and more than any other time, we need for our fans to come out. We’ll take it one game at a time, and we won’t take any game for granted, obviously.”

"It’s very tough to underestimate a team like [Virginia]."

Truer words ne'er were spoken.

(P.S.: I don't "respect" Virginia. Please direct all your poorly spelled, usage error-ridden posts to me.)

Then if your team and your coaches think like you, we will continue to ignore your constant insistence of a rivalry, and continue to smile after games. I guess with the Terps having 4 wins out of the last 17 meetings, Virginians really don't need your respect or see you as a rival. :) K thx bui.

Edwin needs to stop making quotes and start concentrating on getting the OL to play better. Talk about an overrated unit that has 4 seniors yet not a single leader amongst the group.

Between Ralph's inability to command the mental approach of his troops, Cosh and Franklin's poor scheming and play calling and the lack of leadership on this team, what you end up happening is a lot of talk and fundamentally unsound football.

"Chris: “[Virginia] didn’t do anything special as far as schemes, but we didn’t run the ball as well as we would have liked to.” "

Is he happy with the way we threw and caught the ball? What exactly is that comment supposed to mean?

I loved this result.

Virginia -- 31
Maryland -- 0 (zero - zip - zilch - nada)

Maryland's - Defensive and Offensive lines and Linebacking corp are the worst in College Football.

I have seen harder hitting teams in powder puff leagues.

Maryland's recruiting efforts are going to take a major hit with this result.

Wake Forest -- 34
Maryland -- 10

Maryland will finish with a 5-7 record.

I am happy that Maryland is no longer recruiting Tavon Austin.

Jelani Jenkins, Travis Hawkins and Isaac Holmes will be signing with the University of Florida.

Go Tar Heels !
