Preparing for Questionable Quarterbacks
So Virginia Tech quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Sean Glennon will be wearing protective boots for an undisclosed period of time, and both are questionable for the Maryland game because of ankle sprains. That means Maryland Coach Ralph Friedgen and defensive coordinator Chris Cosh will need to prepare for the possibility of seeing three quarterbacks Thursday.
But Friedgen said the preparation aspect is not that challenging because the one healthy quarterback, fifth-year senior Cory Holt, is a combination of Taylor and Glennon in some ways.
“Holt is a little bit of both,” Friedgen said. “He is a big kid. Athletically, he is not as fast as Taylor. And he throws well. It’s not like he is not familiar with the offense. They are not afraid to do the same things with him.”
Holt is a former wide receiver who completed 3 of 6 passes for 28 yards and one touchdown in the Hokies' 30-20 loss to Florida State on Saturday.
