Strength of the 'Pack Is ... Hard to Say

Not to scare any readers of this blog, but I've looked at the numbers and North Carolina State appears to be a pretty bad football team. In other words, expect a two-touchdown victory for the Wolfpack on Saturday.

N.C. State ranks last in the ACC in the following categories (with actual stat and national rank):

Category....................Stat..........Nat'l Rank
Rushing offense.........91.0 ypg..........114
Total offense..............284.4 ypg........112
Rushing defense........165.4 ypg........85
Passing defense.........259.3 ypg.......105
Total defense..............424.7 ypg.......103
Scoring defense..........30.57 ppg.......97

So what does the Wolfpack do well? Return kickoffs. Led by freshman T.J. Graham, N.C. State leads the ACC and ranks 12th nationally with 25.14 yards per kickoff return. Of course, with a defense so porous, the Wolfpack gets a lot of chances to return kickoffs.

Anyway, the last time I saw such an unimpressive numbers from an ACC opponent was three weeks ago from Virginia. Of course, the Cavaliers then went on to win three straight, beginning with its 31-0 crushing of Maryland. So all of this should make Terps fans nervous.

How about NC State's stats when Russell Wilson plays? I bet that paints a totally different picture, cuz they're a different team when he's playing.

They certainly didn't seem to find a whole lot of resistance against FSU this past Thursday night. Let the worrying begin...

Is this what they teach you at reporting school, look at paper stats and don't watch the games. FREDTERP

NC State - 27
Maryland - 10

Maryland will finish with a 5-7 record.

I am extremely happy that Penn State is ranked number 3 in the country - and very soon to be ranked number one --- this will definitely hurt Maryland's recruiting - thank god !!!

I am happy that Maryland is no longer recruiting Tavon Austin.

Jelani Jenkins, Travis Hawkins and Isaac Holmes will be signing with the University of Florida.

Go Tar Heels

I agree with Gary's prediction here. We'll be favored, so we'll lose.
