A First Look at FSU-Maryland

Hello, everyone. We will have a five-day buildup to one of the biggest regular season games in Ralph Friedgen’s tenure on Saturday against Florida State. Let’s start with a quick look at where these teams rank in national rankings. One of the ways to see the balance in the ACC is to look at the national rankings, where many of the conference’s teams rank among the middle of the pack nationally. For both teams, there are only a few categories in which they rank particularly high or low. Let’s start with Florida State.

The Seminoles are fifth in total defense, ninth in pass defense and first in tackles for loss.

The Terrapins are 85th in scoring offense, ninth in net punting, 89th in punt returns and, for all the criticism the defense has received, 23rd in scoring defense.

With Florida on the horizon on Nov. 29, Florida State is facing the realistic possibility of dropping three straight games to close the regular season.

If ever there is a game to show what this team is made of - this is it! I don't care if FSU isn't ranked. If the Terps want to show everyone they DESERVE to be in a big bowl game and be ranked, they need to stay focused, show up mentally and physically prepared, and execute at better than 100%. If they don't, they'll deserve every word of criticism thrown their way!

Go Terps!
