A Quick Look At the Field

The Old Spice Tournament will kick off in Orlando on Thanksgiving Day, and just a few hours after Gary Williams and I partake in the buffet at the local Denny's, Maryland will take on Michigan State that night. If you'd like a preview of the Spartans check this out.

As for the rest of the field, the Terrapins will face either Oklahoma State or Gonzaga on Friday, with the possibility of playing Tennessee, Siena, Wichita State or Georgetown in the final game on Sunday. The question was posed to Eric and I yesterday in the college basketball chat whether we thought Maryland would match up well against any of those squads. You can find our answers here.

I'll have some more detailed scouting reports on each of those teams over the next few days, but I'm curious to see how you all think the Terps will do this weekend? How many of you have them upsetting Michigan State? How many wins overall do you see the Terps returning to College Park with at the conclusion of the weekend?

And which of the previously mentioned teams do you think Maryland can match up with? Or, for that matter, do you think the Terps match up well with any of those squads?

Personally, I am really looking forward to the MSU game. Usually on Thanksgiving all I can think about is food and football, but now I can't wait for the 7:00 tip-off. I am cautiously optimistic that the Terps will hang tough with the Spartans. A win would do wonders for the young team's confidence and despite being so early in the season, could have some bearing come tournament selection time.

Just in case anyone was wondering:

Game 3 | Maryland vs. Michigan State
7 PM ET (ESPN2)

I may get a chance to watch it, but Thanksgiving is at a friend's house where I don't control the TV.

Man, this is a tough tourney. I'd be happy with one win. No way they beat MSU. Oklahoma State would be interesting, no way with Gonzaga or Tenn, Siena and Wichita could go our way. GEORGETOWN??! I'm praying for that one.

0-3 and 1-2 I put at about 60/40 in favor of 0-3...
