Rooting for Spurrier

We are minutes before the start of a very important game that could affect Maryland's bowl possibilities.

Terp fans need to root hard for South Carolina to beat Clemson. The game kicks off in two minutes.

As I have written here and in the newspaper, if Clemson wins today, the Tigers will be bowl eligible and a very attractive team for a number of bowls, from the Gator on down. Every bowl executive I talked to mentioned Clemson to me without me asking about the Tigers.

If the Tigers win today, decent chance they will be selected over Maryland. It's not a sure thing, but Maryland would rather have the Tigers lose and not worry about it.

So Maryland fans, dust off that Steve Spurrier T-shirt and start cheering for the Gamecocks.
