Terps Become Wake Forest Fans

Maryland will be rooting for Wake Forest on Saturday because if the Demon Deacons win and the Terrapins win, they are off to Tampa.

As linebacker Moise Fokou said, “It can all end this weekend.” Or it may not.

He said players are aware of all scenarios that would get them to Tampa. There is also one scenario --- a loss and a Boston College win over Wake Forest – that would eliminate Maryland from title contention, but no players mentioned that.

“To know we are this close, it is amazing,” Fokou said.

There was a sharp change in the mood of players yesterday: upbeat and focused. After a wildly unpredictable season, players can finally see the destination.

Fokou said players are going to be tempted to check out the Wake Forest-Boston College game at 3:30, an outcome that could make Maryland’s road easier or harder. Fokou said if Wake Forest is losing, he does not want to hear about it before Maryland’s game kicks off.

“We understand all the scenarios,” Fokou said. “Our mentality is to win out and we are in Tampa.”
