The Best Team Maryland Has Played
We are nine games into an unpredictable Maryland season. We have seen nine opponents from a variety of conferences. What was the best team Maryland has played so far? The best overall team. I asked this question to center Edwin Williams yesterday and he paused for a while to evaluate each team in his head. Then he said Virginia Tech, while also saying that Virginia played awfully well for one game in Charlottesville. I mentioned Middle Tennessee half-jokingly, but Edwin did not want to put pesky MTSU in V-Tech’s class, which is understandable.
This is a tough question because the separation among Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and California is pretty small. You know what, I’m going to give Cal a slight edge actually, but I’ve have a West Coast bias and have been in the tank for Jahvid Best since he was in middle school. In all seriousness, the best team Maryland plays could be the one entering Byrd Stadium this Saturday, North Carolina, at least until the following Saturday, when Florida State comes to town.
