Vasquez Earns ACC Honor

First of all, allow me to apologize for the extreme tardiness of this blog post. I received the email from the ACC during the middle of our college basketball chat earlier today, and I simply lost track of it after the chat was through. No excuses, though. I'll do my absolute best not to let it happen again.

In any event, for anyone who hasn't heard yet, Maryland junior guard Greivis Vasquez was named the ACC's player of the week after averaging 27 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3 steals while leading the Terps to wins over Youngstown State and Vermont.

Vasquez hit the game-tying three-pointer with 6.4 seconds remaining against Vermont on Friday night to send the game into overtime. Once there, Vasquez and the Terps cruised to victory.

Virginia's Sylven Landesberg earned ACC rookie of the week honors.

Hopefully the first of many awards for Vasquez this season. Good job, Greivis!
