Who Do You Root For?

After Landon Milbourne's breakthrough performance last night against Michigan, Gary Williams addressed, again, what makes Milbourne such an endearing player. Throughout the early stages of this season, even as Milbourne struggled to adapt to his new position, Williams stood by Milbourne. He praised Milbourne's work ethic, his effort and his skills, even if those skills seemed more suited to play a position other than the one in which Milbourne has been placed.

In the postgame press conference last night, Williams again spoke highly of Milbourne, though this time it was not in Milbourne's defense, but rather in support of the praise that was being heaped on the 6-foot-7, 207-lb. power forward after a 12-point performance against a quality foe.

"Our guys root for Landon," Williams said. "They want him to play well. Players root for certain players, there's no doubt about it. And as a coach, you try not to, but you do. You do root for certain guys to be successful. You're fair, but you are rooting for certain guys. For Landon, I think this was a very big step for him this year."

So now I pose the question to you: Who are the players on this Maryland squad that you pull for more than the rest? And, if you feel so inclined, please explain why.

I root for Jin Soo Kim. I'm Asian, he's Asian and he kind of has an old school Beatles haircut, so he's goofy to look at. I remember when we used to cheer for Earl Badu because when he entered in the game, we knew the game was essentially over.

Dave Neal - He reminds me of Kurt(sp?) Schultz minus the muscles and plus shooting range/ability.

i root for all the guys that need to develop and break out...obviously everyone is developing regardless of where they are at...but established players like vasquez you already expect to have big impacts...

guys like hayes and milborne are the two i root for cause ive been waiting for them to take it to another level...

then guys like the bigs we need to breakout like gregory, dupree and provide a solid post presence on both side of the ball...

then of course all young guns...tucker, bowie, mosely, become dynamic scorers and tenatious on d...

and how can you not pull for guys like neal and pearmen???

how can you not root for them to pull it all together?

I root for guys like Greivas Vasquez and John Gilchrest who a lot of "Maryland fans" root to fail.

I root for Cliff Tucker, because I think he shows more potential this year. I feel his shot has improved, and he is more comfortable.

I would like to see him get more minutes.
