Burney Injury Update
Sophomore forward Jerome Burney won't be wearing a protective boot on his right foot much longer. In fact, he said after the game yesterday that he would already be out of it if UPS delivered on the weekends.
Burney has been out of action since suffering a stress fracture in his right foot on Dec. 9. His game attire since then has consisted of a grey suit with a bulky black boot protruding from his right pant leg. He said he he'll be able to move around without the boot once his customized orthotics arrive in the mail, which he expects to happen on Monday.
However, that does not mean Burney will be able to return immediately to practice. He said he's been doing non-weight-bearing exercises to try to maintain some level of physical fitness, but is not ready to jump right back into the thick of team workouts.
"I don't even know if I can even run on it," Burney said of his healing right foot. "I'm just trying to take it slow."
