Gary Williams: Not A Fan Of Boots
Not too much hard news came out of today's presser with Gary Williams. He did note that he made no New Year's resolutions, in part because a basketball coach's year goes from September to September. He also said forwards Steve Goins and Jerome Burney continue to walk around in boots and was unable to provide a timetable on when either player could return to action.
Goins, a freshman, has missed the past two games with a lower left leg injury. Burney, a redshirt sophomore, has been out since Dec. 9 with a stress fracture in his right foot.
"Hopefully we'll get another word on Steve Goins on Monday," Williams said. "I think Jerome is still a week away from getting his boot off. I'm tired of boots."
Williams said both players have been working out on exercise bikes and performing other non-weight bearing activities in order to sustain some level of physical fitness, but that their basketball conditioning would need to be brought back up to speed once they are able to return to practice.
