Spotlight On Asbury

Miami's Brian Asbury (6-foot-7, 221 lbs.) didn't exactly light up the Terps when the two teams played in Coral Gables a few weeks back, but the senior forward certainly is proving his worth to the Hurricanes this season.

He seemingly will pose a matchup issue for Maryland, who already will have to deal with post players Dwayne Collins and Cyrus McGowan on the boards. The Hurricanes have some size to go along with their perimeter shooters.

Asbury's stats (7.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game; 39.7 percent shooting from the field) won't jump out on a scouting report, but Miami Coach Frank Haith believes Asbury is developing into the type of role player his team will need down the stretch this season. Asbury's teammates seem to agree.

"I think he's starting to be more aggressive, realize the ability he has," point guard Lance Hurdle told the Miami Herald. "He's 6-7. He's big, strong, talented, and he has the potential to play in the NBA. But I think he's only starting to realize that now."
