Barbour and Wallace Are Top Place Kickers, for Now
Maryland's place kicking situation continues to be intriguing. Coach Ralph Friedgen said Mike Barbour and Nick Wallace are much improved since the spring, and both are ahead of true freshman Nick Ferrara. Barbour holds a slight lead over Wallace.
Friedgen said Ferrara has a very strong leg and is better than Barbour and Wallace were when they came to Maryland.
Going into spring practice, Friedgen said he thought Wallace was going to be the guy, but Barbour surprised him and took a slight lead over Wallace after the spring.
Friedgen said he hopes to name a starter in about two weeks.
