Poll: Maryland's Biggest Concern
Let’s talk team concerns. There are a few obvious ones.
Offensive line: Center Phil Costa and left tackle Bruce Campbell look good. Sophomore Andrew Gonnella will start at one guard position. Junior Paul Pinegar should start at right tackle, with redshirt freshman R.J. Dill seeing action, as well. The other guard slot remains up for grabs. Coach Ralph Friedgen said it will probably be guard by committee throughout much of the season. He compared a good offensive line to having a good dance partner, and he said that the line won’t be a quick fix by any means this season.
Tight end: This has been a disappointment. No one has really emerged. Friedgen said Tommy Galt would probably start if a game were played today. But he is not sold on anybody at this point.
