Ross Making Strides on Defense

The defensive line remains a concern because of inexperience, but Maryland Coach Ralph Friedgen has liked what he has seen from linemen Carl Russell and Deege Galt (“He’s playing like a madman,” Friedgen said). Ends Jared Harrell and Derek Drummond will play, Friedgen said. They’ll rotate in.

The defensive player who has impressed Friedgen in recent days is true freshman Isaiah Ross. “Drummond and Harrell are playing ahead of him, but he is coming on,” Friedgen said. “He has done some pretty good things. Do you keep him as a spare? Do you go ahead and play him?”

Friedgen said he will keep a close eye on Ross in today’s final team scrimmage.
