Baltz Out; Rutgers Tacks On Field Goal
With roughly six minutes remaining in the first quarter, Maryland attempted a punt out of its own end zone. Punter Travis Baltz was hit by Rutgers defensive back Ramy Nubani after releasing the kick. Baltz limped off the field, received medical attention on the sideline and then was carted away. The injury appears to be to Baltz's left leg.
Meantime, there were offsetting penalties on the punt. Nubani was called for roughing the kicker and Maryland defensive back Trenton Hughes was called for interfering on a fair catch. Nick Ferrara came on to punt for the Terrapins. His kick went 24 yards.
Rutgers eventually kicked a 23-yard field goal to go up, 10-3.
