Franklin: Turner Can Be an All-ACC QB Candidate
It was difficult what to make out of quarterback Chris Turner’s showing against California because, well, he was often running for his life or on the ground before he could run for his life. But when Turner -- who completed 17 of 30 passes for 167 yards --- had time, I thought he looked pretty sharp. And offensive coordinator James Franklin agreed:
“He looked extremely poised, even under duress,” Franklin said. “There were times when he didn’t have a chance. He was going to drop back and somebody was coming clean. I still believe if we can protect Chris, and get running game going, Chris can be an all-ACC candidate quarterback for us. Is he the dynamic playmaker who is going to make guys miss? That’s not his game. We are going to have to protect him.”
That’s the hard part.

I'd rate Turner a quarterback with average ability. I think it's overly optimistic of Franklin to elevate Turner to All-ACC status. If you look at his career status, you find that he's thrown almost as many INTs as TDs. Perhaps he was trying to raise Turner's level of confidence.
