Friedgen's plans for Saturday
Maryland Coach Ralph Friedgen planned to spend his one game-free Saturday of the college football season at high school football games evaluating prospects.
Recruiting is “going well right now,” Friedgen said. “Probably better than I expected. Our coaches were out Monday and Tuesday. Some will go out this weekend also. I am going to stay in the area and go out Friday and Saturday.”
Friedgen said his two priorities during Maryland’s bye week were to get better and get well. “We’re all beat up,” he said.
It did not help that defensive lineman A.J. Francis sprained his ankle this week while dodging a bike on his way to class.
“I’m even getting them hurt going to class,” Friedgen said. “It has been that type of year.”
The bye week should help left tackle Bruce Campbell, who is still not 100 percent after battling turf toe and a knee injury for much of the season, and running back Gary Douglas, who is hoping to return from a shoulder injury. Friedgen also said that running back Da’Rel Scott (broken forearm) should return for the Nov. 21 game at Florida State.
