Moten Takes Charge in Last Week's Players-Only Meeting
What’s the one thing that usually follows adversity? A players-only meeting. It happens all the time. And it happened Wednesday at the Gossett Team House. Players said junior linebacker Adrian Moten, who never hesitates to share his opinion or confront players, was the ringleaders.
The meeting got so spirited that Coach Ralph Friedgen approached because he was supposed to have a general team meeting afterward. But Friedgen heard and was told that it was getting a little loud in the meeting, and that players were expressing how they felt in blunt terms. In other words, progress was being made, at least that’s what Friedgen felt.
Friedgen let the players finish their meeting. Later, he met with the Terrapins Council to discuss any issues that arose. The biggest one? Players wanted to wear black jerseys and red pants for the game. A new look might make for a new outcome. It couldn’t hurt.
“I’ll let you wear that if it will help us win,” Friedgen remembered telling players.
