Friedgen does not rule out using O'Brien

Once again, Coach Ralph Friedgen said there was consideration about using freshman quarterback Danny O'Brien today and Friedgen did not rule out using O'Brien in the final two games.

Should O'Brien be used? I think most fans would say, "No!"

I'm against using O'Brien because is he really going to learn anything with an offensive line that can't block anyone?

I will say this, the crop of young quarterbacks the Terps have in O'Brien, CJ Brown and Tyler Smith (next year) will be far superior than the quarterbacks we've had here the past four years.

And DJ Adams will be coming next year as well at RB. He's going to be a great player.

If they can resolve the issues with the offensive line, and more importantly the defense, this team could be pretty good in two years. I'll qualify that if we had a good coaching staff.

I'm not against using him. Yes, he'll be a sitting duck, but I want to see what the kid can do. If he's going to make a significant contribution to this team, he needs to be able to work in a meaningful game situation under hostile conditions. It probably wouldn't be a good idea especially if he were to get hurt, but honestly, what have we got to lose?

Good news: our field hockey team is 21-0!

In the Post this morning, Mike Wise mentions in his article That Coach Friedgen has paid for team airplane trips and a banquet out of his own pocket. Can the "insider" moderators elaborate on this? Is it literally his own money or perhaps a UMD fund that he can use at his discretion?

I agree with Wise; the Maryland job is not attractive to any of the current "hot" coaches.

Who really cares who the QB is? None of them are apparently that great, and with this defense, combined with an offensive line that can't protect, and can't open holes for the running just doesn't matter.

Jamarr did nothing wrong.. He did the best he could in his first game, with what he has to work with.. The fact the he brings the possiblity of a running attack from the QB position is a plus... Give him the final 2 games... Don't waste a kids whole year just because you want to grasp at straws...The competition for QB can start in the spring, hopefully with a new offensive coordinator.. Franklin's offense is lame.. Bring back Taffe...
