Maryland urges fans to "use extreme travel caution" in regards to Sunday's game

For everyone who has tickets to Sunday's game, please be advised of the following press released issued by the Maryland media relations department earlier this evening:

Maryland-North Carolina Game Will Be Played As Scheduled On Sunday

Fans encouraged to use extreme travel caution after historic snowfall and regional power outages

College Park, MD—The Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball game between Maryland and North Carolina will be played as scheduled at the Comcast Center on Sunday, February 7th. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. ACC protocol indicates games should be played if both teams and two of the three game officials have arrived at the site. The Tarheel team is in College Park as are the three game officials.

Due to the unprecedented weather conditions, the University of Maryland encourages fans to carefully evaluate treacherous travel conditions before driving to campus and to consider other options. While University crews are working around-the-clock shifts to have roads, sidewalks, steps and parking lots cleared, it should be anticipated that large portions of gameday parking lots and sidewalks will be snow-covered due to the historic blizzard and many garage spots will be occupied by on-campus resident students. We expect reserved lots will be plowed and staffed, but not all spaces will be available. Regents Drive Garage will be available free of charge while spaces remain.

The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net and shown locally by Comcast SportsNet.

"If they can't plow the area to get to the arena then they shouldn't charge people to attend an event at the arena. It's that simple."

Well said.

The great dig out began last night. I did everything possible to ensure I could get out today. Guess it helped when we paid a plower that was going around neighborhoods. I am still hoping a for a decent turnout from locals and appluad the efforts to let more students in. We can create a very memorable atmosphere tonight if all goes well. LET'S GO TERPS!!
