Seven years, no Sweet 16's.

The goal of each season should be a National Championship. Anything else is settling for mediocrity. Why limit it to Sweet 16s petecard? Do we really want to be 16th best? No way. Stop drinking the kool-aid. Here's a list of other programs and the coaches they should fire (if applicable) for not winning a championship in 8 years:

Duke (Coach K)
Michigan State (Izzo)

I can list more and more if you want. Just let me know. And we're no better than 32nd best in the country this year. Don't drink the kool-aid and tell me anything otherwise. National Championship or bust.

Eight years, three ACC Titles... keep improving boys!

Plus a National Championship.

Fushezzi, stop drinking the kool aid. You think winning a national championship means anything? You have to win back to back to be really elite. And Gary's never done that. He should have been fired in 2003 after he failed to win a 2nd straight national title.

On a side note, Landesberg is leaving Virginia. From ESPN: "It marks the latest shakeup for the Cavaliers. Bennett announced Monday that freshman swingman Tristan Spurlock wouldn't return by mutual agreement. Earlier this season forward Jamil Tucker was dismissed for academic reasons and guard Calvin Baker left the team because of an ill family member."

Fushezzi, I always enjoy your posts and the sarcasm is appreciated. But I don't think anyone is asking for a National Championship every year. Why don't you make a list of all the teams that have made the sweet 16 since UMD last did? It probably includes all the teams you posted above and many, many more. Don't get me wrong, I completely support Coach Williams and was thrilled by this past season. Coach can stay forever as far as I'm concerned. However, it is getting to be a long time since our last Sweet 16.
