Maryland to play in 2010 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic

In more scheduling news that you may already have heard about but hadn't yet officially been announced (until today), the Maryland men's basketball team will participate in the 2010 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. It will mark the Terrapins' third appearance in the event.

Maryland will host two home games from Nov. 8-12 as part of the 12-team format. The final two rounds will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 18-19. Pittsburgh, Texas and Illinois also will host two games as part of the tournament and then will join Maryland in New York for the final rounds, regardless of the outcomes of the previous games.

The remaining teams will play in subregionals held at campus sites. The rest of the field includes College of Charleston, Illinois-Chicago, Louisiana Tech, Navy, Rhode Island, Seattle, Toledo and UC-Irvine. Toledo and UC-Irvine will host the subregional rounds.

Match-ups for the final two rounds at Madison Square Garden will be announced at a later date. Tickets for those two rounds go on sale tomorrow at 12 p.m.
