Randy Eaton named Maryland's interim athletic director
Maryland has named senior associate athletic director and chief financial officer Randy Eaton the program's interim athletic director, the school announced in a release Monday morning. Eaton will assume the interim A.D. tag effective July 10.
Eaton, 49, temporarily will take over the Maryland athletic department while the school searches for a replacement for Debbie Yow. After serving for 16 years as Maryland's athletic director, Yow departed on Friday to take the same position at N.C. State.
"I'm happy to serve the university in this role, and I'm honored to be asked," Eaton said in the release. "The entire ICA staff will be part of ensuring a smooth transition. Debbie has left us in good shape administratively. I hope to keep everything moving forward while the President's Office conducts a national search."
Eaton has worked in the Maryland athletics department since 2003. He initially served as the department's business director before being promoted to his current position in July 2008. Eaton previously worked at the University of Houston, where he was an associate athletics director.
