Alex Wujciak, Torrey Smith named preseason all-ACC

Maryland linebacker Alex Wujciak and wide receiver-kick returner Torrey Smith were named first-team all-ACC in preseason voting by media members at ACC media days.

Wujciak, a senior who was named first-team all-ACC after last season, had a team-high 131 tackles to rank second in the ACC and eighth nationally in that category (10.9 per game). He's also on the preseason watch lists for the Nagurski Trophy and Lombardi Award.

Smith, a fourth-year junior, ranks first in program history and third in the ACC in career kickoff return yards (2,398). He also ranks fifth on the Maryland career all-purpose yards list (3,617).

I don't know...I was laughing when I read it. A lot more insightful than the endless AH drivel.

Are we ready for FB predictions? Any news on Navy and how their training camp is shaping up? I honestly believe that RF & co. will turn it around and produce a winning season. The key is the o-line and I think we actually have enough depth there for this season. So my prediction is 7-4...based mostly on a weak ACC.

Now back to BB -

I went to campus the other day and was lucky enough to catch a bit of pick-up BB among the players. Am thoroughly impressed with Big Berend The guy is a swatter with unexpectedly nice interior moves. its the second time I've seen him play pick-up and the guy is a steal - just what the docta ordered - another big who can run the floor, play wicked D, pull great grades in the classroom (ok, the least of our worries), and can finish around the rim.

I think russ pointed out that one of his comments was very telling - something to the effect that our guards know where to get him the ball. I watched SM and AB repeatedly give him the ball in motion to finish. Great hands on the big guy. I think perhaps that our rebounding issues, barring injury, a resolved with JW returning.

Looking forward to the game at M&T. if they win, I'll keep my prediction. If they lose....I don't want to think about it.

Hope all of you are having a great summer.

Regards -
