Gary Williams to be inducted into Hall of Legends in Baltimore

Maryland men's basketball coach Gary Williams will be inducted into the Hall of Legends of the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Previous Hall of Legends honorees include Babe Ruth, Johnny Unitas, Art Modell, Jim McKay and Brooks Robinson.

The induction will take place Sept. 30 at the Hippodrome in Baltimore. Among the guests schedule to attend the gala: Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim and Villanova Coach Jay Wright; former Maryland players Len Elmore and Tom McMillan; and Walt Williams and Johnny Rhodes, who played for Williams at Maryland.

Individual tickets go on sale Thursday and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. More information can be found here.

well deserved for GW. Not the BB HOF and probably a bit overdue, but nonetheless well deserved. Kudos to wapo for keeping us up to date on the Terps and training camp. Not a lot of posts I suspect due to the mayhem on the RI.

Billy Jones, a teammate of Gary Williams' on the UM teams and the first African-American in ACC mens basketball, is among those slated to honor Williams.

After this what honors could be left? How about the Koolaid Drinkers Hall of Mediocrity Bliss? Then there is the National Recruiting Hall of Fame. Icing on the cake!
